Facility

History

Construction of The Westfield Technology & Emergency Management Center Building began in the fall of 2006 and was completed in the summer of 2007. The project was the result of a long standing need for an independent facility for the city's information technology department, which since its creation had been based within Westfield High School. The technology department needed to expand and the school required further classroom space.

The Westfield Emergency Management department was also in need of new facilities, including an alternate dispatch center, which relies on many of the services provided by the technology department. A shared state of the art facility was thus designed and built.

Location

The Westfield Technology & Emergency Management Center Building is located within the secured grounds of Westfield Barnes Municipal Airport. The location is ideal for its high ground and proximity to the regional emergency staging area.

Data Center

The facilities heart is its data center room. As the operating location for the City and Schools servers and network backbone, the room was designed and built around an advanced power and cooling system which provides redundant battery power as well as environmental controls.

These systems provide a proper operating environment and redundant power to ensure continual operation of critical data and communication services.
